2. What data we collect

We aim to collect as little data as possible. Specifically:

  • Data entered into /tools: If you use any tools available under /tools, the input you provide (and any resulting output) may be temporarily processed and held in server memory in order for the tool to function. This data is not persisted to a database or disk and is automatically and permanently deleted whenever the server restarts. We do not use this data for any purpose other than providing the requested tool functionality.
  • IP addresses: Your IP address is logged as part of normal web server operation. This is used strictly for security purposes - for example, detecting abuse, rate-limiting, and preventing malicious activity.
  • Technical/security data: Limited technical data required to keep the site running securely (e.g., basic request metadata such as timestamps, user-agent strings, or similar information generated automatically by standard web server software) may be collected. This is used only to maintain the security, stability, and integrity of the site.
  • Visit statistics by country: Once per browser session the site counts one visit for the visitor's country (taken from the country header added by Cloudflare). Only the running total per country is stored - no IP address, user agent or identifier is written to disk. A salted hash used to avoid counting the same visitor twice in one day is kept in memory only and is discarded at midnight or on restart. The aggregated totals are shown on the public /visitors map. Visitors who send a "Do Not Track" signal are not counted.
  • Display preferences: Your theme and accent color are stored in your browser's local storage so the site looks the same on your next visit. This stays on your device and is never sent to the server.
  • Local tool data: Several tools (JSON, hashing, QR codes, the YTD and handling editors and similar) run entirely in your browser; the text and files you give them are not uploaded.

We do not:

  • Collect or store any personal data beyond what's described above.
  • Use cookies for tracking or advertising purposes.
  • Use third-party analytics or advertising trackers.
  • Sell, rent, or share any data with third parties.
  • Create user accounts or profiles.

3. How long data is kept

  • Tool data (from /tools) exists only in temporary memory and is wiped on every server restart - there is no fixed retention period beyond the server's uptime, and it is never written to persistent storage.
  • IP addresses and technical/security logs are kept only as long as reasonably necessary for security purposes, after which they are deleted or rotated out.

4. Legal basis / why we process this data

Where applicable (e.g., under GDPR for visitors in the EU), the limited data described above is processed on the basis of legitimate interest - namely, operating the site securely, preventing abuse, and providing the functionality you request (such as the /tools feature).

5. Your rights

Since no persistent personal data is stored, there is generally nothing to access, export, or delete beyond your current session.
